Young Jay
Comments(4) # Young Jay london e10

Soon after we'd moved to LDNP towers, some twelve years ago, I came across a very dishevelled and distressed young Jay in the garden . At that time there were very few other avian visitors for they had not yet learnt that we had food aplenty for them, so this young Jay was almost hand-fed with enthusiasm for the first needy visitor. It stayed around for a week or so visiting every day to collect nuts and seeds but the visits then became less frequent as it became less dishevelled. Nevertheless, there were still visits from a Jay over the next couple of years and I liked to think it was the same one. The one pictured above is one of two young Jays that were in the garden at the weekend and I'm sure they are descendants of that first one....our garden is probably deeply entwined in their race memories by now, somewhere they need to visit at least once.
