Broad Bodied Chaser
Comments(3) # Broad Bodied Chaser london e17

Always the first true Dragonfly to make its presence apparent above the water around here is the Broad Bodied Chaser. Though they're almost a couple of inches long, to me, the first thought upon encountering one in flight is nearly always of a large bumble-bee. This is the female of the species, the males are blue and hence a bit harder to spot. This one was just up the road from here at one of my favourite bits of scrub land but a couple of hours ago we had one in the garden, which I think is a first. Canon EOS-1D Mark III
