Cowslips
Comments(6) # Cowslips london e17

For a very long time I assumed (though I don't know why) these were called "Cow Slips", that is, they grew in places where cows slipped. Then they became "Cow's Lips" as they're a bit like pursed lips (though not, I'll admit, particularly those of a cow). Then I discovered their name is derived from Ye Olde Englishe for a cow pat (Cuslyppe) as these flowers were believed to spring up around cow pats. You pays your money and you makes your choice. I still prefer Cow's Lips. Canon EOS-1D Mark III
