Swan down
Comments(5) # Swan down london e17

From Herons in Love yesterday, to Love's Labour's Lost by the look of it. Though swans usually mate for life, young swans will often attempt to take another's partner in a conflict that may involve a lot of neck pecking and sometimes attempted drowning (pretty similar to the mating in this respect). I suspect this is the explanation for the sad state of this swan's neck feathers having seen, in the past, just how fierce these contests can get. The plumage will grow back but probably not in time for this year's mating for this fellow. Canon EOS 40D
