From this shot one might expect this insect to be called the Elephant Moth, might one not? But it's actually the adult form of the Caddisfly, probably better known for the intricate cases the larvae make from bits of leaf, indeed like many of the winged lovelies we see here the majority of their life is actually spent in an aquatic larval stage. Nice to come across an adult whilst stalking damselflies though. Canon EOS 5D
