Broad Bodied Chaser Dragonfly (5)
Comments(9) # Broad Bodied Chaser Dragonfly (5) london e17

So, a few seconds before he flew off and less than three hours since emerging from the pond as a very different looking creature, we come to the final shot in this series, hope you enjoyed it. I'm pretty sure it is a male, and if so, then he'll gradually change colour to blue. Females remain yellow. There will be no more Dragons this week. But they will be back in one form or another. Incidentally, this dragonfly and many brothers and sisters have all emerged from a small pond about 6 foot square which we only dug two years ago on our allotment. Since then at least four species of Dragonfly among many other insects and frogs have found their way there with no help from us at all. The only plants we added were oxygenating weed and some irises but many others including a lovely aquatic horsetail and some wild watercress have also ended up growing there. Nature, eh? Canon EOS 5D
