Bee Orchid
Comments(4) # Bee Orchid london e17

It's not just the French Alps that has orchids you know....we have the occasional Bee Orchid round here too, though I nearly missed these as I hadn't visited their home for a while and now they're almost over. They were down at the Waterworks Nature Reserve the other end of Lea Bridge Road from LDNP towers. It's a former Waterworks (as the name suggests) which used to filter the water for the area using reed beds but now serves as a reservoir for wildlife by the busy road between Hackney and Walthamstow marshes. It always seems to be almost completely empty which I never understand. Canon EOS 40D
