Freshly Emerged Broad Bodied Chaser Dragonfly
Comments(6) # Freshly Emerged Broad Bodied Chaser Dragonfly london e17

So, as I mentioned the other day when I showed you the first (or second) Damselfly of the year that I'd also now seen the first real dragon. And here he is. These are my favourite of the Dragons I think, perhaps because, since we have them in our allotment pond, I've been able to observe them very closely from emergence through to egg laying and then the larval stages. This one had been out of his exuvia (which you can just see in the background) for an hour or so at a guess when I first came across him and within twenty minutes or so of this shot he'd flown away to start his adult life. Last year I showed you the aquatic larval stage and also the process of emerging from the exuvia and wing drying(1, 2, 3 and 4. Why don't you go and have a(nother) look? Canon EOS 40D
