Speckled Wood Butterfly
Comments(3) # Speckled Wood Butterfly london e17

Not the most colourful of our native butterflies but still one of my favourites. They're all about the dappled shade under trees around here at this time of year fluttering in the sunlight (in between the showers). This one is having a short rest on a stinging nettle to highlight Be Nice to Nettles Week (no, I hadn't heard about it either until Flighty mentioned it the other day). Since they're the food plant to many caterpillars I always like to make sure there's some nettles around! Canon EOS 40D
