Little Egret
Comments(6) # Little Egret london e17

This was what I came across whilst watching the Herons at the reservoir, A Little Egret. They're not actually that small, though they are smaller than the common Grey Heron to which they are related. They're still fairly rare in the UK although their numbers countrywide are increasing and they have previously bred at the E17 reservoirs but this was the first time I've ever seen one and I actually saw three. And I'm pretty sure two were on a nest so hopefully there will be more to come. Hopefully also they'll come out of the branches and a little closer to me so I can get a better shot. Canon EOS 40D
