We stick with the watery theme again today to bring you the sight of one of the largest Heronries in the South East of England. There are several islands full of heron's nests here at the Walthamstow Reservoirs which has also been the site of the Great Crested Grebe shots from the last couple of days. The Reservoirs are home to thousands of birds and the wintering spot for many more. It's been somewhere LDNP has been saving up for this time of year when there's really not much else going on in my normal ahunts so expect several more photos from the reservoir over the next few weeks, maybe even some rarer species. For those that want to visit the details of getting a permit (excellent value at £10 a year in my opinion) can be found here. Permits can also be bought in person at the reservoirs. Canon EOS 40D
