So, a short break from our "How Nature Inspires Xmas Decorations" series in celebration of the Winter Solstice. It usually falls on the 21st but this year and last the vagaries of the celestial spheres have brought it to the 22nd of December. Not only does the Solstice mark LDNP being nine months old but it also serves as a nice reminder that the days will now slowly start to get longer, even if spring is still quite some way off. This dawn from a few days ago as seen from our kitchen and was brought to my attention by Mrs.LDNP, there was just time to get the camera before both colour and clouds were gone. Anyway, it reminds us of that old rhyme: "Red sky at night, Shepherd's delight, Red sky in morning, 'ave a banana." And you can't say fairer than that. Canon EOS 5D
