Last Dragon?

I'm sure regular visitors know by now that the Dragons are probably my favourite photographic subjects... So, imagine my delight when I came across this Migrant Hawker yesterday. He was incredibly relaxed, indeed I feared for a while he might be dead as he didn't seem to be reacting to my presence at all. If he had been dead it would have have to have happened recently as they very quickly lose their lovely metallic sheen one dead. But, I'm glad to say, he wasn't dead...just resting. As I went for that ultimate face close-up (I'll show you in a day or two) he decided enough was enough and flew off to patrol the pond. A slow paddle after him yielded at least one other Migrant Hawker and one Ruddy Darter. It's wonderful to see them in October and most unexpected given the wet weather of the last week when they would have been unable to fly and hence feed. Canon EOS 5D
