I'm afraid I can't tell you what this (native) ladybird is up to. The leaf of the beech tree has been curled over by a caterpillar of some description but whether the ladybird is trying to get to this insect to eat or simply thought it might be a good place to hide I don't know. It's even possible that, confused by the weather, the Ladybird thought it might be time for hibernating and considered this a likely spot..... in which case it's a bit of a shame the leaf will fall from the tree soon.
