Comments(0) # Bulrushes london e17

So, while the birds and er, amphibians, are busy breeding the local bulrushes are busy dispersing their seed to a light spring wind. Very invasive plants these, if left unchecked they'll completely swamp (!) a shallow pond like this one here. Luckily for the birds that like a mix of bulrush and water this stretch is small pond is partially cleared of the reedmace every few years. It's not a very big pond and sits only a few yards from a very busy main road yet this small area of rough land supports an amazing variety of wildlife, indeed a very large proprtion of what appears here.
