Small Copper
Comments(4) # Small Copper london e17

How can I have not shown you the Small Copper before? Quite remiss of me. I came across this one about a month ago but the species are still on the wing. The Small is the only British Copper these days as the Large Copper became extinct here in the late nineteenth century. Being the only Copper it get's junked in with the Blues and Hairstreaks and looking at the similarly sized Common Blue they do look quite similar (in black and white). The wingspan of this one was less than an inch so it is amongst our smaller butterflies but obviously another one of my favourites (I will let you know if I come across a butterfly I don't like!).
