Male Common Blue Butterfly
Comments(1) # Male Common Blue Butterfly london e17

Another one of my favourites, the Common Blue butterfly. It's a small species, the wingspan never reaching much over an inch or so. This one was still smaller. The upperside of the wings in the male of the species is a wonderful metallic blue whilst the females are usually a dull brown (though there is a female blue form too). This head down position is a typical resting position of the species. Canon EOS 5D
